I put my favorite Misen non-stick pans to the test by cooking sticky dishes all week, and I’m telling you: they performed perfectly
If you love a good non-stick pan as much as you love pancakes, read on.
Attention all breakfast lovers! I tested the non-stick pan set from Misen ($165) for its non-stick capabilities. Although I have always eaten perfectly cooked eggs and pancakes with it, I wanted to make sure it was up to the ultimate challenge before I fully recommend it.
I have had these pans for about six months now and they have truly become a kitchen staple. I’ve always loved Misen knives, so I thought I’d give their cookware a try and guess what? Love at first sight. I recently made breakfast every day for a week with their non-stick pans and you’ll have to keep reading to see how good they are.
The first dish of my breakfast week was, of course, a classic stack of pancakes (yes, they were as delicious as they look). I started by putting a little butter in the 12-inch pan, the perfect size for larger cooking projects and for projects that require you to carefully flip the pancakes. I greased the pan with butter, just to give the pancakes some flavor and because it was still early and I didn’t think too much about testing to see if they wouldn’t stick (or whatever it was, it was 6am, right?).
As you can see, they are perfect and have that super crispy edge that is always helped by a little browned butter. However, I also wanted to try them without butter or oil to see if the non-stick test was successful. I’ve had these pans for a few months now and although I often use them without oil, there is usually a liquid element in them, such as canned tomatoes for shakshuka or chicken broth for a one-pot egg with a grain. I was curious to see how the pancakes would do in the second test.
Although they took up more room than in the buttered pan (I could only make two instead of three), they cooked just as well. If you are lactose intolerant or just looking for healthier alternatives to the classic buttered pancake, pouring the batter directly onto the heated pan is definitely the way to go.
Another exciting revelation is that it passed the flip test with flying colors. Not only did it slide easily into the pan without me having to grab a spatula to move it, but it also didn’t collapse because it cooked so evenly that it didn’t liquefy in the middle.
If you need further proof that this pan cooks ultra-evenly, check out this glamorous photo of the cook’s kiss pancake of my dreams. Misen uses a three-layer, PFOA-free platinum construction for a super-safe cooking experience. Not sure what that means exactly? Basically, any chemicals or harmful materials used in other non-stick pans are absolutely not present in Misen’s products.
The end result of my pancake breakfast was so delicious that I only took this one photo before devouring the entire stack.

Let’s move on!
On the breakfast agenda was something I call Greek eggs. Apparently, the New York Times cooking app calls it that too, because that’s where I got the recipe, and let me tell you, it was as satisfying to eat as it was to cook. I made them in a slightly smaller 10-inch pan, because I didn’t need a large surface for this breakfast for two.
Is there anything more fascinating than chopped garlic sizzling in a well-oiled pan?
Now that you know the pan has an excellent non-stick coating, I want to highlight its versatility with a more complicated recipe that requires more steps and thus shows more phases of its life.
What really sets this pan apart from other brands is the ergonomic silicone handle that stays cool. If you are a bit clumsy and often injure yourself in the kitchen (me, me, me), this ingenious design removes all risk in some of the more delicate culinary maneuvers. Swirling a pan of hot tomato sauce or flipping a pancake? Not at all, until now.
The handle not only prevents you from burning yourself when the pan is heated, but also has a textured underside for total control and comfort when preparing your meals.
And it’s removable, so if it’s not really your thing, you can easily dispose of it.
Once the garlic, tomatoes and oil were cooked and the pan was barely greased, it was time to add the beaten eggs and dried oregano. With a regular pan, this could have been a tricky situation, but not with Misen.
I was able to easily stir together the egg mixture and the tomato mixture to create a perfect mixture of the two that went straight from the pan to the plate. And I didn’t have to deal with the messy cleanup that usually comes with eggs stuck to the high sides of a skillet.

If you often wait for your non-stick pan to absorb some of the previous meal’s surface, you really should avoid the frustration and go for this guy right away.
The end result? It couldn’t be more beautiful or appetizing. This must-have dish made in a must-have pan is a mash-up you didn’t know you needed in your life.

The last dish in this week’s breakfast series was a simple fried egg, which may be the most versatile brunch dish out there. For this recipe, I used a perfectly small but roomy 8-inch pan that looks like it was designed for a solo fried egg.
If you had any doubts about its non-stick properties, let this photo clear up any doubts. Without a drop of oil or butter, the egg will literally slide off the pan, curling up at the edges, providing the perfect opportunity to pick it up. So you no longer have to use a spatula to scrape the egg from the pan, but can now use ready-to-eat meals that you can easily slide onto a plate.
In terms of longevity, I have had these pans for almost six months now and I have not noticed any difference in their performance since I bought them. For the record, I cook almost every day and I only have one other non-stick pan that is slightly deeper.
Misen’s pans are made with plasma primers and are infused with titanium, making them two and a half times more efficient than traditional primers. This means that the non-stick coating lasts longer than with other brands.
That’s it! If you’re looking for a pan that will give you a perfectly cooked egg every time. Misen is definitely the way to go. I tend to get a little squeamish about eggs if they are not cooked perfectly to my liking and with this pan, they come out the way I like them every time.
