The Christmas market around the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in the heart of the vibrant City West will again show its best side from November 22, 2021 to January 02, 2022.
The Christmas market at the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church attracts visitors with a festively decorated Christmas treeand elaborate lighting. At the lovingly decorated stalls and Christmas huts at the barrier-free Christmas market, everyone who is still looking for gifts is sure to find what they are looking for.
From classic for decorations to Christmas baubles made of glass and bronze art, all kinds of ornaments for the Christmas tree in the living room at home are offered here. The wooden Christmas cribs and handicrafts from all over Germany are popular with tourists.
Children’s dreams come true
Children’s eyes will light up at the stalls with sweet treats such as candy floss and gingerbread, and others with handmade toys. There will also be some carousels. The four large New Year’s Eve fireworks displays, which will be launched from the Europa-Center canopy at 6, 8, 10 and midnight on the evening of December 31, will also attract many visitors. Especially for families with children, the New Year’s Eve celebration in City West is very popular due to the early start times.
Starry sky
The 400-meter-long carpet of light, which stretches like a starry sky over the aisles of the market and out to the front, gives the Christmas market a festive appearance. The light artist Andreas Boehlke also stages the 50 festive light islands with Christmas balls, which are suitable as a photo motif and for the selfie. This year, the fountain known to Berliners as the Wasserklops will once again be staged in a Christmassy manner with a glowing waterfall.
The world’s longest Christmas illumination along the Kurfürstendamm also provides an atmospheric setting.
Charitable mulled wine sale
In 2021, AG City e.V. will again hold a charitable mulled wine sale on Breitscheidplatz with the support of the Schaustellerverband Berlin e.V. (Berlin Showmen’s Association).
The proceeds from the sale will go to the Wärmebus of the DRK Landesverband Berliner Rotes Kreuz. The Wärmebus helps homeless people during the winter season by distributing, for example, tea, sleeping bags, sleeping mats and blankets, or organizing transportation to emergency shelters.
